We ask God’s blessing on all who are preparing for baptism and confirmation, and those beginning the Alpha exploring faith course this week (and those leading it). - Thanksgiving for Junior Church & Pathfinders getting under way again today, and for those who give of their time and skills in leading these groups and nurturing our young people. - At the beginning of a new year, we pray for all leaving home for the first time, those setting out on new ventures, and those forming new relationships. - in the Deanery: Cheveley Group, and for the Deanery Standing Committee. - for this parish: for those living in Appletree Grove, The Avenue (Burwell), Blackberry Drove (Reach). - for those in special need: Grace Bruce, Jean Pratt, Stephen Thacker (& family), Chloe Saunders, Irene Plumb, Pat & David Leah, Vera & Len Lawrance, Anne Cooke (nee Griffiths), Ann Fuller, Renee Haslam, Vera Baker (Bella Swann’s Great Grandmother). - For the bereaved including the family and friends of Myra Harwood, (Private) Robert Hayes and those remembering anniversaries of death at this time.____________________ FOR YOUR ATTENTION: * A collection continues this and next Sunday, for donations towards a farewell present for BISHOP ANTHONY who is shortly to retire after 10 years as Bishop of Ely. The farewell service will be on Sat 23 Jan, 3.30pm in the Cathedral. * The week of PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY runs from 18th-25th January with ‘Churches Together in Burwell’.... Come and celebrate - Thurs 21st: 7.00pm Bring & Share Supper at Trinity Church, with speaker Mervyn Thomas CSW. - Sat 23rd: 9.00am Prayer Breakfast at By Jove (tickets £9 Max 20 people only). - Sun 24th: 10.30am (in place of our usual 9.30am service) a “Christian Unity Service-of-the-Word” led by the Roman Catholics, at St. Mary’s. * REVISIONS/additions to our Electoral Roll may now be made in readiness for our Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM). The deadline for applications/changes for voting at the APCM is Sunday 31st Jan. Application packs available from back of church or from Mrs Avril Plume. This year’s APCM will be held in the Guildhall on Monday 1st March 6.45 for 7.00pm start. * With Christmas behind us, I invite you to consider a HOLY LAND PILGRIMAGE over spring 1/2-term next year, ie mid/late Feb 2011. Outline details displayed on board at back & leaflets available from Stephen. Itinerary, firm dates & prices to follow once as known. Several expressions of interest already! Let me know if you think this might be for you or your friends. Open to all of any age (from the parish or beyond). * The title of the DEANERY SYNOD presentation on Thur 28 Jan is “Guidelines for fundraising campaigns” by Trevor Thorn (formerly chief fund-raiser @ Ridley Hall). This is open to all who would like to attend: 7.15 for 7.30pm start @ Gt Wilbraham Primary School. * REMINDER: If you have difficulty getting to church, especially in this wintry weather, please call Ken Hurrell who will be happy to arrange a lift for you.
