Messy church
Messy Church was planned in 2010 ready for launch in 2011. The January 2011 session was run by: Susan Baker, Harriet Leefe, Anna Hopper, Lynn Hawkins, Alice Leadbeter, Kathy Ogilvie, Janice Frankham, supported by members of the Youth Group. Here is what happened:
The Guildhall was absolutely buzzing. Every table was filled with adults and youngsters engaging in talking whilst doing. Dads and Grandads were engrossed in making boats from junk materials which were then enthusiastically being tried out in water by younger people. There are two very young babies and I get to have a cuddle whilst chatting to their Mums.
At 5pm miraculously all the tables are cleared and everyone is waiting expectantly for the Celebration. Alice creates magic as the Ark is filled up with people and animals and then is suddenly floating on a beautiful sea. There are fun songs, a message for parents of New Beginnings and prayers too. In the kitchen the food is being prepared and our older young people are willing waiters and tea/coffee providers. Somehow, like the Feeding of the 5000 food for the estimated 20 feeds 50 people and everyone seems to have enough. Our young people clear up and all that Harriet had so carefully put out is cleared away in half an hour!
All I can say is wow and thank you everyone.
Susan Baker
