CentrePeace Report 2010
CentrePeace Report 2010
In 2010, CentrePeace celebrated its fifth birthday, an achievement of which we are very proud. Early in the year, the shop was given a ‘facelift’ when members of the management team spent a busy weekend with paintbrushes. We also took the opportunity to re-arrange some of the furniture to make more room. Later on in the summer, external contractors completed the makeover on the outside of the shop. We’ve received many favourable comments on our new brighter look and feel ready for the next 5 years. A new exciting development this year was the opening of ‘CentrePeace @ Reach,’ which provides the same facilities as the Burwell shop at the back of St Etheldreda’s church once a month. During the summer months, about 25 villagers attended each session to browse for books and meet their friends for tea and cake and, although numbers dropped off during the cold dark days of winter, CentrePeace @ Reach is definitely a permanent fixture on the Reach calendar. None of our work would have been possible without our wonderful band of volunteers, many of whom have been with us from the start. We are very grateful to all of them – and we would welcome any others who have a few hours to spare, either on a regular basis or just occasionally to provide holiday cover.
